As we see the end of 2024 in Broadford, we look back to our heroes of 1974, the Intermediate Champions.

After reaching the Intermediate Final in 1973, Broadford were unlucky losers to Feakle by a solitary point with the recently deceased Liam Billy Moloney RIP of Feakle getting the winning score. Broadford were missing several players due to injuries etc. Broadford reached the final again in 1974 against near neighbours and rivals O'Callaghan's Mills. A clash of jerseys on the day meant that Broadford had to wear the Blue and Gold of Newmarket on Fergus on the day. Broadford duly won the 1974 final.

Many of that team have passed to their eternal reward but will always be remembered fondly by those that follow Broadford Hurling.

In 1973, our minors were defeated in a Minor A final replay against Kilmaley and our U16s had a memorable final win against Tubber in the U16B final.

Broadford GAA club hope to honour those players from 1973 and 1974 in the coming year in an event to coincide with the opening of the new All Weather Pitch.
