Broadford 2- 22
Inagh/ Kilnamona 1- 25
Broadford and last year’s county semi finalists Inagh/Kilnamona played out a half scoring affair last Saturday evening. With both teams having 2024 All Ireland senior hurling medalists in Paddy Donnelan and I/K’s Eamonn Foudy on the field, this game was frantic from the off. The aforementioned Eamonn Foudy’s puckouts with the elements really put us on the back foot in the first half.
Broadford, despite losing Clare 20’s hurler Niall O’Farrell from 2024 and 2023 to a hamstring injury early on he still left his mark with a well engineered goal to stem Inagh/Kil early onslaught. Shane Taylor followed soon after with the same injury but not before signaling his intent with a well taken score.
The West Clare men had the better of the first half exchanges and they led by eight points at the interval when the score was 1-17 to 1-9.
If we were under the cosh in the first half the second half turned on its head. Broadford grew incrementally into the game and showcased some super scores particularly from Cian Cremins and Cian Mulqueen. One noticeable standout performance from Donie Whelan who excelled for Broadford on the day and finished the tie with 1-5 to his credit.
A high scoring tie at Broadford ended on level terms.
Finally, it was super to see Clare minor hurler from last year Michael Vaughan make his adult bow in this rip roaring contest. He contributed massively as a link man between midfield and half forward line and really gave the West Clare men endless problems.

On Sunday morning our neighbours met once again to battle for points in this intermediate league clash. Losing Jack Dillion early on to a calf strain allowed Clare 19’s panellist Aodhan O’Driscoll to enter the fray and he definitely made his presence known. He contributed 1-4 to Broadford’s tally and his pace was a constant threat throughout.
Aodhan tally went a long way to ensuring Broadford got off to a winning start.
Strong performance from Sean Phelan at centre back also paved the way.
It was also noticeable that this Broadford intermediate panel had a huge amount of subs on the bench which was impressive to see.

Broadford got their juniors league campaign off to a blistering start. It was an especially noticeable evening for many players from the victorious minor winning championship team of 2024 namely, Jack Lovett, Oisin Macmahon, Daniel Greene, Michael O’Donogue, Adam Flynn and John Moran. Players that hopefully will have further great days in the Broadford colours in the years ahead.
Broadford started like a train racing into a commanding 2-11 to 4 lead at half time. With all 23 players togged getting a run it was a brilliant start to the campaign. Eye catching goals from 18 year old John Moran and 41 year old Pádraig Hickey the pick of the bunch.
