Well done to the girls, trainers and supporters

Broadford played away to Bodyke in the Junior Girls semi-final in the evening of Saturday 16th May. Broadford made a promising start with a point from Niamh Mulqueen in the second minute. However for almost the rest of the first half neither team seemed able to pull together and take control of the field. Both teams had a number of goal scoring chances and tested each other’s defences in the process but the goals simply remained elusive. Bodyke eventually took a point three minutes before the end of the half. 0-01 to 0-01.
Unsure whether the second half was going to be as disappointing as the first, the match soon started to take an altogether more interesting turn. A solo run from Niamh Mulqueen looked like it might produce the first goal but an excellent save from the Bodyke goalie made sure it was not to be. This was the turning point and both teams were suddenly more energised. A point to Bodyke, a goal to Broadford, a goal to Bodyke, then another goal to Broadford all in eleven minutes (1-02 to 2-01). The game was now exciting! Two more points to Bodyke but thankfully for Broadford, Bodyke sent another four wide to see the game ending level at seven a piece – 1-04 to 2-01
The game went to extra time and Broadford came on and immediately took control with Niamh Mulqueen sending four over the bar and Anna Spaight sending one to the back of the net in the first half. The second half saw Moya McMahon and Siobhan O'Connell each scoring goals in the second half of extra time. Throughout the extra time Bodyke were worthy opponents and put up strong defence and mounted a number of challenges in front of the Broadford goal but were only able to score two more points for their efforts. Final score 1-06 to 5-05.
