 | Broadford/Smith O' Brien's produced a dazzling second-half performance on Friday evening to book themselves a Semi-final championship place on a scoreline of 1-17 to 0-9. The game started tentatively for both teams, neither team taking control of the game. Each team traded scores in the early exchanges with Mikey O Shea, Darren Chaplain, Matthew Troy and Eddie Burke all contributing scores. It was the Broadford/SOB backs that proved themselves in both halves to display man-of-the match performances. Most noteworthy were Michael Hogan and Cathal Stritch. Clarecastle did get a run of scores mid-way through the first half and it looked like the game could go away from Broadford/Sob. It was however the home team that pushed on just before half-time and there was little to separate the teams when the first period ended. |
The second half started in the same pattern. Broadford/SOB's took their chances and started to pull away. David O' Shea having a superb game in the corner-forward position that led to his goal that put the game out of reach. Darren Chaplain continued his excellent free-taking and an inspirational long-range score by Seán Phelan drove the team on. Seán Considine deservedly got on the score sheet and was a real threat up front. Some excellent point taking by Mikey O' Shea crowned a dominating second-half performance from the team. A semi-final place awaits in a few weeks.
