Broadford however then broke away with a straight run of eleven points from players from across the team (Diarmuid Moloney, Aonghus O’Brien, Padraig Hickey, Stiofain McMahon and Shane Taylor), before Smith O’Brien’s added a point to their tally with a free just before the half-time whistle. Half-time score 0-14 – 0-04.
The second half started as the first had with a point going to Broadford from another Hickey free in the first minute and this was closely followed by a further free and two points from play for Smith O’Brien’s. With the scores at 0-16 to 0-06 any opportunity for the visitors to mount a comeback was dealt a blow with a goal from Donnie Whelan after a pass from Stiofain McMahon and this heralded an eventual victory for Broadford with a score line of 1-20 to 0-10
