Broadford/Smith O' Briens played Clonlara away this evening and came away with a win on a scoreline of 4-5 to 3-17. Broadford/SOB started the first game in this U16B Championship with super team performances all over the pitch. They shocked Clonlara into a comprehensive lead with less than 15 minutes gone on the clock. With points by Jamie Butler, J.C. McMahon, Niall Moloney and Eoin Power Broadford displayed their dominance. Added to this a goal and a point from Jack Ward Murphy and it looked like the game was running away from Clonlara. Paddy Donnelan was again solid in goals and the Clonlara forwards were well marshalled by the like of Dara Whelan, Mike Gough and James Hannon. Although Broadford/SOB continued the same pattern in the second half with points again from Cian Cremins, Jamie Butler and J.C. McMahon, Clonlara had their purple patch. They engineered a number of goals but Broadford/SOB stood firm and dug deep in the last 15 minutes. It was only when a penalty was awarded to Jack Ward Murphy, scored by J.C. McMahon that the game looked like it was over for Clonlara. It was a credit to this team that when the pressure came on they really stepped up and won well in the end. Next U16B game is this Wednesday at home. All Support Welcome |
