The teams battled it out in atrocious weather conditions during the first half that would test the mettle of any player. However, despite the conditions, Broadford achieved most of their scores during the first half including two great goals; one coming from a long free taken by Shane Taylor and the other from play out beyond the 45m line from Diarmuid Moloney, the low ball travelling like an arrow over the ground and in to the back of the net.
Craig Chaplin also made the most of two side line balls, opting to chip them both high over the bar with great accuracy. Half time score 0-03 to 2-07.
Scariff mounted a comeback attempt in the second half increasing their score by 9 points with Broadford managing just 5 over the bar (three from play and two from frees) compared to their earlier rate of scores in the first half. Final score 0-12 to 2-12
Both team did well in the slippery and cold conditions to give an entertaining start to the competition.
