Massive congrats to Paddy Donnellan, Cian Mulqueen and James Vaughan who were successful in winning the U16 1/2 Munster B Final today in Kilmallock with their school, Tulla. They defeated Blackwater Community School on a scoreline of 3-9 to 1-12.
Well done again boys. The Broadford Minor Hurling Club AGM will be held on Sunday 26th November at 6pm. The meeting will take place in the clubhouse. Please contact Padraig Gunning for any inquiries or to add items to the agenda. Padraig can be contacted via email: [email protected] Thank you. To say this was a game of 2 halves would be the understatement of the year. Broadford played Ruan in the U15C Final this morning in Tulla. Both parishes were represented well with a large crowd in attendance on this sunny Sunday morning. It was Broadford to come darting out of the blocks early on. Ruan were dealt a killer blow when excellent link play between David Boland, Cormac O' Brien gave the ball to Niall O' Farrell who had only 1 thing on his mind and blasted the ball into the back of the Ruan net. Broadford piled on the pressure with superb forward play by the likes of Oisín Kavanagh and Alan O' Brien. At the other end the Broadford back lines were immense in defence. Gearóid Vaughan, Alex Mason and Shane Casey among the backs who kept Ruan to just 5 scores in the first half. T.J. Dillon won vital ball all day and his distribution was excellent. Paul McNamara, James Quinn Tuite and Niall O' Farrell capitalising on their huge efforts to fight for every ball. The dominance of Broadford showed in the half-time score, 3-7 to 1-4. Ruan were always going to be a had team to beat and with the wind at their backs in the second-half they upped their game. Some excellent goal keeping from Harry Cooper kept them at bay at times. The Broadford full-back line came under immense pressure and bravely fought on despite some crushing scores. David Boland was everywhere (a real Captains performance). Hope was lifted in the second-half when the tireless Alan O' Brien got the ball on the edge of the square and hit an unstoppable shot into the back of the net. Subs like Denis Fahy and Conor O' Donnell fought to the bitter end but it was not to be the boys day today. This bunch of lads have provided the club with some great days out this year. Huge thanks must go to the Mentors for all their hard work this year - Noel Dillon, Fergal O' Brien and Nicky O' Farrell. Not forgetting the hugely promising First Aid man, Mike McNamara who had a 100% record up until today. Well done again lads. Broadford U15 Team: Harry Cooper, Gearóid Vaughan, Alex Mason, Shane Casey, Cathal O' Sullivan, James Tuite, Paul McNamara, David Boland (Captain), T.J.
