The second half started as the first had begun with a strong Corofin side dominating and scoring another three points and 2 goals in the first 15 minutes with Broadford only able to take one point in return. However Broadford’s courage and determination suddenly came to the fore and from nowhere Aoife Dillon scored a goal for the team in green. Broadford were back in the game! Then, in the 17th and 19th minutes , two more goals from Aoife Dillon and Siobhan O'Connell and Broadford had come from nowhere to be back with a fighting chance (3-02 to 2-012). Two great saves from Broadford’s Hannah Mason and then another goal for from Caroline F Moloney for Broadford was responded to by an apparent goal for Corofin that would surely have been the end of Broadford’s chances. However a call from the umpire led to several minutes consultation with the ref and hope on the side lines for the Broadford supporters. Eventually the goal was disallowed, to the relief of Broadford. In the end though, time got the better of Broadford and a free from Niamh Mulqueen in the dying seconds gave Broadford the last score of the match. Final score 4-03 to 2-12.
Congratulations to the stronger team that won on the day but Broadford mounted a massive attack in the second half to show they are a force to be reckoned with.
