On the 17th June the Broadford GAA Facebook page was deliberately, and cruelly, hacked by someone who wanted to cause maximum disruption. The perpetrator, who it seems from the specific technical information available was operating in Ireland, took steps to ensure that Facebook suspended the Broadford GAA page within minutes of hacking the Facebook account.
Over a month later the Broadford GAA Facebook page remains suspended. All efforts to report the full details of the incident to Facebook, and have the pages restored, have failed. Facebook’s online help “services” provide no options for meaningful dialogue with an actual person and are largely automated using Artificial Intelligence (or not intelligent as the case may be). Other means of contacting and engaging with Facebook have been tried but have been met with no response or even acknowledgement. Although efforts will continue, there currently seems little prospect of success at this time.
In order to continue a Facebook presence, the club’s Broadford Minors Facebook page has been renamed as “Broadford Hurling Club”. If you were already a Facebook friend of the minor club page, then you will automatically see Facebook posts to the Broadford Hurling Club page. If not, and you would like to re-connect with the club on Facebook then please search for “Broadford Hurling Club” and send a friend request and also like/follow the page.
Thank you for your continued support.
