Broadford beat Scariff/Ogonnelloe by one point (1-06 to 1-05) and the buzz from the crowd after the match was all about the save of the season from Peter O’Farrell in the second half as well as Eoin Gunning’s power solo run down the length of the field to seal the final win.
Spurred on by their first win, the lads had to face the power of Kilmaley in the Final. In a truly nail biting match that saw Broadford take the lead on three occasions after the teams equalised four times, the final result went down to the wire when Broadford were ahead by one point as the match went in to extra time. A subsequent soft goal, with the ball going only just over the line as the lads tried to recover from a jaw dropping blocked free seconds before finally sealed the win for Kilmaley. Final score Kilmaley 3-05 Broadford 0-12.
Such an achievement to get to the final and keeping the pressure up right until the end. Every member of team gave their all and did Broadford proud. Thanks also to trainers Fergal O'Brien, Nicky O'Farrell, Noel Dillon and Padraig Hickey for dedicating their time and expertise developing this exceptional young team.
Good luck to Kilmaley as they prepare to head for Féile in June.
